Ancient Egyptian faience Eye of Horus

Green faience openworked double-sided eye.

This very large openworked faience amulet represents the Udjat (Eye of Horus), one of ancient Egypt’s most enduring protective symbols. Fashioned in blue-green faience with a contrasting dark pupil, the amulet displays the characteristic cosmetic lines, curved brow, and elongated cheek marking associated with the divine eye. The openwork construction and unusually large size suggest a function beyond personal adornment, likely as a powerful protective element placed among mummy wrappings or used in a ritual context. The Udjat symbolized healing, renewal, and safeguarding against harm, embodying the restored eye of Horus after his battle with Seth.
