Trilobite Fossil Pendant in Hallmarked 835 Silver - Cambrian Wearable Art
A powerful union of deep time and contemporary silversmithing.
This unique art jewelry pendant preserves a genuine Cambrian trilobite, approx. 505 million years old, still embedded in its original black shale matrix. The fossil is superbly detailed - the cephalon, compound eyes and fine thoracic segmentation are clearly visible, with a natural dark preservation that contrasts beautifully against the stone.
Rather than extracting the fossil, the artist left the matrix intact and created a heavy, organic, molten-form setting around it. The hand-forged silver flows like liquid rock around the ancient slate, making each side of the pendant a sculpture in itself. A substantial, tactile piece.
The reverse is hallmarked 835 with a spiral maker's mark, confirming solid 835 silver - the historic Dutch / Northern European standard of 83.5% pure silver, known for its durability and soft, warm patina. A mark of genuine artisanal European workshop quality.
A true collector's jewel for lovers of natural history, archaeology, and one-of-a-kind wearable art.
