Barite

Barite is a dense mineral of barium sulfate (BaSO4), usually colorless or white, but sometimes blue, yellow, or brown. It forms tabular or prismatic crystals, occurs in sedimentary rocks, and is linked to lead and zinc ores. Its density makes it useful in drilling mud for oil and gas. Collectors prize barite for its crystal shapes and colors.
